What the job involves
Zoning splits your duct system into two or more areas, each with its own thermostat and a motorized damper in the trunk or branch line. A zone panel ties the thermostats to your furnace, heat pump or AC so the equipment runs only for the areas asking for it. Work usually means opening a section of duct in an attic or crawl space, mounting dampers, running low voltage wire and setting up the panel. Most homes take a day, and hill-country travel time gets scheduled up front.
What we check and install
We start by measuring what your ducts can actually carry, because zoning a system with undersized returns just makes it noisy. We check blower capability, static pressure, existing thermostat wiring and whether your equipment can run at reduced airflow without short cycling. Then we install the dampers, the zone panel, a bypass or pressure relief if the system needs one, and thermostats for each zone. On older heat pumps we confirm the control board and auxiliary heat stages play nicely with the panel before we commit.
How we decide it is the right call
Zoning is right when the rooms are fine on their own but the house is unevenly loaded, like a walkout basement, a second story or a west-facing addition. It is the wrong fix when the real problem is a crushed duct, a leaking return, missing insulation or a system that is undersized for the square footage. We would rather repair those first. If your existing zone panel or damper motor already failed, we test the motor, the transformer and the thermostat call before replacing parts.

Can I add zoning to the system I already have?
Often yes, if the ductwork has room and the blower can handle reduced airflow. We measure both before quoting. Some older single-stage units need a pressure relief path added so they do not short cycle.
Do I need a separate thermostat for every zone?
Yes. Each zone needs its own thermostat so the panel knows which dampers to open and when to start the equipment. We wire them back to the zone panel during installation.
Why is one zone still uneven after zoning?
Usually a duct problem inside that zone, like a disconnected branch, a closed damper or poor attic insulation. Confirm the vents are open, then call us and we will trace the run.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form with what the system is doing. Warm air, no air, short cycling, a smell, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail helps us load the right parts before we roll.
- Step 2
We schedule around travel
Hill-country routes take time, so we give you a realistic window instead of a guess. If you are on a long county road, we tell you that up front and keep you posted if the day shifts.
- Step 3
Diagnose, then explain
We test the system, find the actual fault and walk you through what failed and what the repair involves. You decide before we start. If a part has to be ordered, we say when it lands.

Why homeowners call us
- Older systems are normal herePlenty of homes on our routes run a heat pump from two decades back, a propane furnace and a wood stove for the cold snaps. We repair what you have rather than pushing you toward replacement on the first visit.
- Heating and cooling bothSame crew handles air conditioning repair in summer and heating repair in winter. That means we know your system's history when the season flips, and we are not learning your ductwork from scratch in January.
- We say what we do not knowIf a fault is intermittent, we tell you that instead of replacing parts on a hunch. Sometimes the honest answer is a monitoring period or a second visit when the weather brings the problem back.
- Regional coverage, local paceWe cover Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Travel time is part of every job we quote, so you get a window that accounts for the drive rather than a promise that falls apart.
- All major brands, gas & electricEvery major HVAC brand, gas and electric, handled by an independent crew.
- Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
